Effective protection against self-loosening in large bolted connections
Large bolted connections with a nominal size of ≥ M24 can only be pre-tensioned by hand with great effort. The torque required to tighten the connection is simply too high, which means that electrically, pneumatically, or hydraulically powered torque tools must be used. However, the use of a so-called high-torque wrench, which traditionally transfers the reaction torque occurring during tightening via a supporting reaction arm, poses a significant safety risk even for experienced professionals.
HEICO-LOCK® Reaction Washers enable safe and convenient tightening of large bolted connections using standard torque wrenches — without an additional reaction arm or supports on the tool or component. The reaction torque of the torque wrench is supported via a special dual socket at the gear-shaped outer contour of the HEICO-LOCK® Reaction Washers. As a result, the tightening torque is introduced purely axially, without any additional bending moment acting on the bolt during tightening. At the same time, the reaction washers — like all locking elements in the HEICO-LOCK® product line — provide effective and permanent protection against self-loosening caused by vibrations and dynamic loads, as they can occur in machinery and equipment during operation.
The HEICO-ONE Safety Washer is the optimal solution for countering/holding large bolted connections that are tightened with HEICO-LOCK® Reaction Washers using electric, hydraulic, and pneumatic torque tools.
The innovative counter washer prevents the bolt/nut from co-rotating on the passive side.
The HEICO-ONE Safety Washer is a single washer with wave-shaped locking ribs on both sides, specifically designed for use with HEICO-LOCK® Reaction Washers to prevent co-rotation of the passive side in through-bolt connections. Due to the arrangement of the locking ribs and the wave-shaped design of the HEICO-ONE Safety Washer, a positive friction/form fit is established even at low pre-load forces.
